Aircraft Maintenance at Eagle's Nest

Our maintenance department is tailored specifically to meet the maintenance needs of the single-owner, small, general aviation aircraft. The heavy metal can't even land here at Eagle's Nest, so we are here to serve the "small guy"!

Our maintenance hangar is a 3,600 sq ft. heated steel building with a sealed floor and a full-span hydraulic door that can hold up to five aircraft.

We welcome and encourage you to get involved with our staff in the maintenance of your aircraft.
We are also in the knowledge business. We want you to be as informed an owner/pilot as you can be if you want to learn more about the systems on your aircraft, or about the preventative maintenance items that you can legally perform on your aircraft. Our staff is eager to work with you, and it is up to you as to how involved you want to be.

Our Mechanics

Art Salatin is our Director of Maintenance. He has been an active A&P mechanic since 1976, has been at Eagle's Nest since 2008, and holds an Inspection Authorization. Art received his aircraft maintenance and flight training at LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas concurrent with earning a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

After several years in the industry and in specialized training, he took his growing family to Indonesia. As a member of New Tribes Mission Aviation, he spent the next 14 years flying and maintaining aircraft in support of Christian missionary efforts in that island country. Art moved his family back to the United States in 1996, and settled on the family farm where he grew up in Swoope, Virgnia. He has since held aircraft maintenance positions at Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport and New Market Airport prior to Eagle's Nest.

Art says, "Being a pilot makes me a a better mechanic, and being a mechanic makes me a safer pilot." Art's years in Indonesia, maintaining the aircraft that he flew, impressed on him the value of pilots having a thorough working knowledge of their aircraft. Art's extensive background in flying and mechanical engineering is why he makes an extra effort to involve you in the maintenance of your aircraft.
